June 28, 2021 – In recognition of the three-year anniversary of the shooting at the Capital Gazette newsroom, The Fallen Journalists Memorial leadership has released the following statements:

Statement from the Honorable David Dreier, Fallen Journalists Memorial Foundation Chairman
“With great sadness, but also determination, today we honor the third anniversary of the Capital Gazette newsroom shooting, the deadliest attack on journalism in modern US history. The brave journalists lost on that day made the ultimate sacrifice while upholding a key tenet of our democracy. Our team at the Fallen Journalists Memorial Foundation is dedicated to developing an inspiring memorial in our nation’s capital. It will serve as a permanent assurance that the Capital Gazette and other fallen journalists will never be forgotten.”
